Comment: Note: This is Python implementation of 256colors2.pl . Program detects and displays colors for 8, 16, 88, and 256 color terminals. It has 3 display modes, and provides a handy 88<->256 color value conversion utility. . It is written in python (2.5+) and uses curses for terminal detection. It has no dependencies on any non-core python modules.
