This README explains how to install and use the pre-compiled JVM
version of Scribe. This require JDK 1.3 or higher.

Installing SCRIBE
*****************

In order to install Scribe proceed as follow:

  1. Copy the entire Scribe directory into the location you want it to
reside permanently (e.g. "/usr/local/scribe" on Unix "c:\Scribe" on
     Win32).

  2. Edit the driver shell files in order to setup the path where Scribe
is installed (e.g. "/usr/local/scribe"). That is:

        . on Unix, edit the "scribe.sh", "scribeinfo.sh" and "scribebibtex.sh"
          files.
        . on Win32, edit the "scribe.bat", "scribeinfo.bat" and
          "scribebibtex.bat" files.

  3. Set the correct protection mode for the scribe files (e.g. on Unix:
     chmod a+rx scribe.sh scribeinfo.sh scribebibtex.sh).

Running SCRIBE
**************
