Building universal binaries on Mac OS X 10.4
============================================

Install the Developer Tools, including gcc 3.3 and the Mac OS 10.2 and X11 SDKs.

Download the files <app name>-<version>.tar.gz into your home directory.  Open
a terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal).

tar xvzf <app name>-<version>.tar.gz
cd <app name>-<version>
./configure

Configure will complain about the absence of various libraries.  The
following procedure was necessary to get the software to build:

Building from source on Mac OS X 10.4 (obsolete)

Use

sudo gcc_select 3.3

before compilation.  System can be returned to the default setting using

sudo gcc_select 4.0

Otherwise as per 10.3 below.

Building from source on Mac OS X 10.3 (obsolete)
================================================ 

These instructions are based on building the Mushware source tree on a MacOS X
10.3 installation.

Install the Developer Tools.

Check that your tools can build the application.  From Project Builder, create
a new project of type 'C++ tool'.  Replace the contents of the main.cpp file
with the following:

If the above will not compile, you will need to use gcc-2.95 to compile the
software.  Open a terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal) and enter:

sudo gcc_select 2

Note that this has a fundamental effect on your development system, and can be
reversed using:

sudo gcc_select 3
