Converting Data and Area Files to New Version
As of version 0.59, the mud will automatically detect old versions
of area and data files and will prompt the user to convert them. However,
before running mudbin after an upgrade, be sure to backup old files to
ensure if there are problems you can revert back to the old version.
For linux users, you can backup data files with the following steps:
1. Change directory to the aime directory.
2. Run the 'package' script by typing: 'package <packagename>' and it will
create a package with your data and area files in it.
3. Move the package to a safe directory.
Windows users will need to do it manually. Make a backup copy of all
.area files in the aime/areas directory and all .dat files in the aime/dat
directory. Any help, info, or bulletins you have updated should be backed
up as well.
If you wish to convert manually or convert from another codebase
(currently the only other codebase supported is aber pdirt) you can
run bin/convert <oldfile> <newfile>. Run 'convert' to see what
options you have available.
