Requirements

+ gtkmm 2.4 or above is required. Get it from http://www.gtkmm.org
+ optionally - OSS or OSS/Free
+ optionally - ALSA 0.9x see http://www.alsa-project.org
+ optionally - libsndfile (allows capturing to .wav file)
+ optionally - JACK (allows sophisticated routing and sharing of audio streams)
get it from http://jackit.sourceforge.net
Compiling
=========
$ ./configure
$ make
$ su -c "make install"
Will normally do the trick.
Per - user installation
=======================
The first time you run amSynth, the default config files and sound presets will
automatically be copied to your home directory.
