The upstream and Debian packaging Git repository for aptitude is at:

Upstream development occurs on the master branch. Upstream release
tags are pure version numbers.
For the Debian packaging, a git-buildpackage + pristine-tar style
layout and tagging is used:
Upstream tar balls for the Debian packaging are imported into the
upstream-sid and pristine-tar branches and are tagged with the prefix
"upstream/".
Debian packaging is done in the debian-sid branch and Debian package
releases are tagged with the "debian/" prefix.
