array-util for Debian
---------------------
linux kernels:
This package is reported to work with recent (at the time of this
writing, so probably anything you might be using) 2.4 and 2.6 linux
kernels.
Upstream states that it is important that this utility be built against
the version of the kernel headers (cciss driver headers in particular)
that it is intended to be used with. This is because it references
the kernel's header file and the author cannot be sure that the ioctls
and structs provided by that header won't change in future versions.
However, I have found the ida and cciss interfaces to be very stable
and haven't run into a kernel that doesn't work.
If you encounter a situation where this daemon does not work with your
kernel please file a bug.
I have structured the source package to depend on linux-source-2.6
and be able to deal with whichever package fulfills the requirement.
I build against the most recent linux-source-2.6.* in unstable at
build time.
archs:
These controllers were only sold by Compaq for use on i386.
While this package may build on other archs and you may be able to
plug in a PCI version of the controller, I have not tested it. I have
set Architecture to any with the hope that people will try it. If you
do please send me your results and I will include them.
