instance method
</H1>
<P>
An instance method is a method that must be associated with an object
instance. These methods probably rely on some state in the instance, so
they cannot be divorced from it. In Object Oriented languages, you
call these methods on an instance, in Babelized non-OO languages like
C, you pass an instance in as the first argument to one of these methods.
