BOCK: The Bootstrap-Only Compiler Kit

Written by Charles Briscoe-Smith; refer to the file LEGAL for details.

   "Plan to throw one away. You will anyway."
                             -- Fred Brooks, "The Mythical Man Month"

BOCK is a throwaway compiler. Its purpose is simply to build an initial
working version of an otherwise self-hosted Java compiler. Despite that,
it works reasonably well as a stand-alone native Java compiler.

BOCK is the prototype for a better compiler which is to come later.
Being a prototype, it does very little error checking, and doesn't quite
understand the full Java language. On the other hand, it has compiled
some real Java programs. See the file BUGS for more details.

I consider BOCK to have reached ALPHA-TEST quality.  It works for me;
please try it and see if it works for you, too!

If you want to send me patches, please feel free. My email address
is <cpbs@debian.org>. Bug reports are also welcome; but if you know
how, please send them the the Debian bug tracking system rather than to
me directly.
