# BusKill App

This is the codebase for our cross-platform (CLI and) GUI app for [BusKill](https://www.buskill.in). It works in Linux, Windows, and MacOS.

# What is BusKill?

BusKill is a laptop kill cord that can trigger your computer to lock or shutdown when it's physically separated from you.

The quickest way to understand BusKill is to watch our 2-minute [BusKill Explainer Video](https://buskill.in/#demo).

You can also [see BusKill in action](https://www.buskill.in/demo-2) on Windows, MacOS, Linux, and QubesOS.

# Documentation

To read our comprehensive documentation, see:

## Install

For instructions on downloading and cryptographically verifying our latest release, see:

 * [Downloading the BusKill App](https://docs.buskill.in/buskill-app/en/stable/software_usr/download.html)
 * [Verifying the Download](https://docs.buskill.in/buskill-app/en/stable/software_usr/signature.html)

## Screenshots

BusKill is simple. When armed, a USB removal will trigger the screen to lock (by default).

BusKill runs in Linux, Windows, and MacOS.

## Misconceptions

> Q: Self-destruct?!? Will this brick my computer?

A: [No](https://docs.buskill.in/buskill-app/en/stable/faq.html#q-self-destruct-will-this-brick-my-computer). The BusKill app does not have the ability to harm your hardware and our app ships with non-destructive triggers only.

For more information, see our [Frequently Asked Questions](https://docs.buskill.in/buskill-app/en/stable/faq.html).

## Contributing

BusKill is an open-source project run by volunteers that create and maintain open-source hardware and software. Please see [Contributing to BusKill](https://docs.buskill.in/buskill-app/en/stable/contributing.html) to learn how you can help the BusKill project.

You can also [donate with bitcoin, monero, paypal, or credit card](https://buskill.in/donate).

Contributions of any amount and kind are greatly appreciated <3
