----------------
There is a very good internal manual. Select from the start screen
(small icon on the top left), or press F1 in game.
See also the on-line FAQ, especially 'Part A: Playing'
http://www.c-evo.org/faq.html
In Linux, documentation for the game is also in /usr/share/doc/c-evo-data
When starting a new game on a random map,
deselect 'Free Player Setup' on the start menu to expose the difficulty setting.
The game is automatically saved in the current book at the end of every turn.
Each turn's save is available by adjusting the game date on the start menu.
(The buttons for this are on the right, near the bottom)
Note that if you restart from an earlier date, and save on close,
the original history will be overwritten.
To avoid this, make a file copy of the original book.
Autosave books are located at the bottom of the
"earlier book" list in the start menu, prefixed by a ~
If the game screen appears unresponsive at start,
try clicking the empire management icon (bottom right) and select one of the advisor screens.
If the game appears to be stuck/frozen during play, it may be a hidden modal window.
Try the [esc] or F11 keys,
or clicking the empire management icon above the end turn button.
There may be a unit awaiting instructions.
Press C to centre the screen on it.
If the trumpet glyph is showing on the [End Turn] button,
that means the last negotiation is unfinished.
The [F9] key toggles the visibility of the dialogue.
It must be finished by clicking one of the buttons at the bottom of the dialogue.
(The close button hides the dialogue window, it does not end the negotiation)
Military units must be designed. This option appears as a research choice after
Warrior Code has been researched. If you do not like the allocated name for a unit type,
you can change it by right clicking the unit in the Military Report window, [F2] key.
When creating a new randon map with the internal map generator,
the map will start as all Ocean. Hit Ctrl-r to generate the terrain.
Please report any bugs found to PB.
Attach the game book file, and explain how to reproduce the problem.
In Linux the Saved book files are located in ~/.config/c-evo-dh/Saved
The Map folder is ~/.config/c-evo-dh/Maps
In Windows, the folders are in AppData\Local\c-evo-dh\
