Chameleon by ff
-----------------------------------------------------
Chameleon is a simple control panel for X desktops. It allows you to
select a color from an RGB color wheel, and set it as your desktop
background color. You can also specify a color either by name or in
RGB notation, on the command line. Chameleon can also be used to
either tile or stretch images of almost any format in the background.
This can be done either through the interface or from the command
line. Here are some command line use examples:
$ chameleon "#c6c6ff" # set bgnd color to #c6c6ff
$ chameleon "dark blue" # set bgnd color to dark blue
$ chameleon ~/pix/alien.jpg # stretch alien.jpg in the bgnd
$ chameleon ~/pix/tile.gif -t # tile tile.gif in the bgnd
Chameleon needs GTK to compile and run. Get it from www.gtk.org.
You want GTK 0.99.5 or later. Older versions might make Chameleon
act a bit weird...
It will also require Imlib for the image routines. You can get Imlib
and most related libs at www.enlightenment.org/development.html
It can be somewhat frustrating (and time consuming) installing these
two libraries, but in the long run, its well worth it.
Chameleon is Free Software (tm) under the GNU General Public Licence.
