Chameleon Themes HOWTO by ff
---------------------------------------------------------
As you are no doubt aware, Chameleon relies on the GTK
library to supply it with the visual interface
functionality. Among other neat features, GTK provides
a system for customizing the appearance of applications
that are linked to it. This is done using GTK rc files.
Chameleon takes advantage of this. If the file .chamrc
is present in your home directory, it will be processed,
and Chameleon's look will be set accordingly. The format
of this rc file is fairly easy to figure out. It assigns
pixmaps or colors (in RGB values from 0.0 to 1.0) to
different parts of the application (buttons, background,
text, etc...). For more info, try www.gtk.org.
The Chameleon archive comes bundled with an example theme
(designed by Brand Huntsman). Rename the sample.chamrc file
into ~/.chamrc and put YellowMarble.xpm somewhere in the
pixmap path (as defined in ~/.chamrc).
If you take the time to put together your own Chameleon
theme, I'd like to see it. Send me a tarball to
mglisic@korax.net. :)
Have fun!
