* patches to the upstream chkrootkit
Debian has accumulated multiple patches for chkrootkit over the years. These are stored in debian/patches.
As of late September 2021 we are in the process of upstreaming and improving all patches.
* package dependencies
The package depends on standard commandline utilities such as grep, sed, awk
The package recommends:
* binutils as strings(1) is an integral part of several tests
* procps as ps(1) is used to see what is running (and chkproc scans things in /proc)
* iproute2|net-tools as ss(1) or netstat(1) are used to check for connections.
The Enhances field lists packages whose binaries are scanned. this list was generated by
command-not-found(1) and some manual investigation. It is tested by debian/tests/find-debs-that-are-enhanced.
There appear to be no packages in Debian providing the following binaries: amd, identd, pop2, pop3, timed
