A long time ago - and yet perhaps it wasn't such a very long time ago
- when the package console-setup did not yet exist, there was a
package called console-cyrillic that people used to configure Cyrillic
on the console. This package had its own script in /etc/init.d in
order to setup the console and it had very good support for
configuration through Debconf.
Then the new era of console-setup came. People no longer needed
console-cyrillic in order to have Cyrillic. And yet, this package
provided some interesting fonts so some people continued to use it.
Therefore, now this package exists only as a collection of fonts and
keyboard layouts. Both the script in /etc/init.d and the Debconf
configuration are removed.
NOTE: This package does not attempt to remove the configuration script
in /etc/init.d leaved by an older version. If you don't need this
script, you have to remove it yourself.
If you want to use a font included in this package, put a line like
the following in /etc/default/console-setup:
FONT=/usr/share/console-cyrillic/alt-antiq-8x16.psf
If you want to use a keyboard layout included in this package, put a
line like the following in /etc/default/keyboard:
KMAP=/usr/share/console-cyrillic/mk-unicode.kmap
