Crimson Fields is a tactical war game in the tradition of Battle Isle. Two
players command a number of units on a map of hexagons, trying to accomplish
mission objectives ranging from defending important locations to simply
destroying all enemy forces. Damaged units may be repaired or replaced by
new recruits, while victorious squadrons will improve their abilities so
they will be even more difficult to beat next time.
There is a (most simple) editor included in the archive which can be used
to create custom level files.
Currently, the game can only be played by two human adversaries in hot-seat
mode or via e-mail. As of yet, there is no AI player code.
Crimson Fields is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public
License (GPL).
The game has been developed and tested on intel architecture under Linux,
but it shouldn't be too hard to make it compile and run on other operating
systems as well.
So far it has been reported to work with Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris 8, and
Windows 9x/NT.
For installation instructions see the INSTALL file.

Have fun!
