.SH NAME
makevpopdb \- Creates the vpop database for cucipop
.SH SYNOPSIS
.B /usr/sbin/makevpopdb
.I dbasefile
.ad
.SH DESCRIPTION
Makevpopdb creates the vpop database which is used by
.BR cucipop (8)
to determine authenticate virtually hosted popusers using both the
.B PASS
and
.B APOP
authentication methods.
.PP
Makevpopdb reads from stdin and will create and overwrite the
databasefile specified as the first argument. The expected dataformat
on stdin is:
.Sx 1
virtual.dom.ain/user cleartextpassword
.Ex
The entries must be separated from each other by a single tab, no
other random whitespace is allowed.

.SH BUGS
The input file format is a bit strict, too strict perhaps. But since it's
being generated by a program in most cases, who cares?
.SH NOTES
When creating the database, the regular umask will be paid attention to.
It is critically important to make sure that the generated database is
not readable by anyone unauthorised, since
the generated database contains cleartext passwords (albeit very crudely
two-way encrypted).
.PP
In order to ensure seamless transitions to a new database, it is
necessary to create the new database in a different file as the final
dbase file, then rename it after the database has been created and filled.
