-------------------------------------

Looking for compile instructions? Read the file "INSTALL.txt"
instead...

INTRODUCTION

The CUPS Driver Development Kit (DDK) provides a suite of
standard drivers, a PPD file compiler, and other utilities that
can be used to develop printer drivers for CUPS and other
printing environments. CUPS provides a portable printing layer
for UNIX(r)-based operating systems. The CUPS DDK provides the
means for mass-producing PPD files and drivers/filters for
CUPS-based printer drivers.

The CUPS DDK is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General
Public License.

READING THE DOCUMENTATION

Once you have installed the software you can access the on-line
documentation via the "man" command:

    man ppdc

Printable and browsable documentation is located in the
"/usr/share/doc/cupsddk" directory in the binary distributions,
and under the "doc" directory in the source archives.

Please read the documentation before asking questions.

GETTING SUPPORT AND OTHER RESOURCES

If you have problems, READ THE DOCUMENTATION FIRST!

on its NNTP server, "news.easysw.com". You can access these
groups on-line at:

    http://www.cups.org/newsgroups.php

See the CUPS web site at "http://www.cups.org/" for other site
