so</span>“ zulegt, sind aber doch recht verbreitet. Interessant sind diese Geräte in
diesem Abschnitt auch aufgrund der benutzten Hardware-Komponenten.</p><p>Wenn Sie häufig mit Ihrem Notebook unterwegs sind, bietet Ihnen Debian GNU/Linux
einige interessante Pakete:</p><p>An erster Stelle steht sicher das Paket <code class="filename">task-laptop</code>. Es fasst die wichtigsten Pakete für Besitzer
tragbarer Computer zusammen. Es werden automatisch die Pakete <code class="filename">apmd</code> (kümmert sich um den Stromsparmodus Ihres Rechners), <code class="filename">pcmcia-cs</code> (die „<span class="quote">allgemeinen</span>“ PCMCIA-Treiber)
sowie <code class="filename">anacron</code> (eine Ergänzung zu <code class="filename">cron</code>, die auch die „<span class="quote">Ruhezeiten</span>“ Ihres
Rechners berücksichtigt und Jobs ggf. später startet) installiert.</p><p>Weitere sinnvolle Pakete (die auch von <code class="filename">task-laptop</code> vorgeschlagen werden) sind: <code class="filename">netenv</code> (hiermit können Sie beim Systemstart zwischen
verschiedenen Netzwerkkonfigurationen wählen), <code class="filename">irda-tools</code> und <code class="filename">irda-common</code> (Infrarotschnittstellen-Unterstützung) sowie <code class="filename">toshutils</code> (einige Helferlein speziell für

<code class="filename">divine</code> wird aus den Startdateien des PCMCIA-Systems
heraus aufgerufen und kann anhand der vorhandenen Konfigurationsdateien feststellen,
welche Einstellungen für das Netzwerk vorzunehmen sind. Schließen Sie einfach Ihr
Notebook ans Netz an, starten Sie den Rechner, und „<span class="quote">schon sind Sie drin</span>“
<code class="filename">;-)</code>. Dieses Programm lässt sich im
„<span class="quote">Dock</span>“ des Windowmanagers WindowMaker ablegen, benötigt diesen aber
nicht zwingend.</p><p>

benutzen. Um <code class="filename">wmbattery</code> betreiben zu können, muss das BIOS Ihres
Notebooks über eine APM-(Advanced Power Management-)Unterstützung verfügen, und Sie
müssen diese auch (unter „<span class="quote">Character Devices</span>“) im Kernel aktivieren. <code class="filename">wmbattery</code> zeigt Ihnen den prozentualen Ladezustand
an. Zusätzlich wird der Zustand auch farblich dargestellt (grün, gelb, rot). Wenn
das Notebook über das Netzteil betrieben wird und so der Akku geladen wird, wird

befinden. Bitte beachten Sie, dass der Bootvorgang unterbrochen wird und Sie ein
Profil auswählen müssen, wenn Sie <code class="filename">netenv</code> installiert haben. Sie können <code class="filename">netenv</code> auch dazu benutzen, einen anderen
