To install/config/use dphys-kernel-packages do the following:

1. Download and unpack the .tar.gz archive file from:
http://www.phys.ethz.ch/~franklin/Projects/dphys-kernel-packages.tar.gz or
http://www.phys.ethz.ch/~franklin/Projects/dphys-kernel-packages-<date>.tar.gz
where last milestone/release is <date>=20061027
make
make install
Configuration
=============
1. ensure that kernel-package and debhelper and make and fakeroot are installed
2. ensure that lshw is installed of you want to use dphys-kernel-cputype
3. install this software
4. follow the instructions in the dphys-kernel-packages.1 man page
