dstool for DEBIAN
----------------------
This is an untested release. The original source code,
released in 1995 was apparantly an alpha release.
Many fixes were made to get it to compile and then to
keep it from segfaulting on startup.

You may want to get the source package and look at the code.
To do this, follow the standard procedure for a debian package:
Get the files ending in .dsc .orig.tar.gz and .diff.gz .
Put them together in a directory and type
dpkg-source -x *.dsc
You need to have the debian package 'dpkg-dev' installed
to unpack, examine and rebuild source packages.

The fortran code in dstool built with many warnings and difficulties.
I would be surprised if it works well now. Please use the
debian bug tracking system (www.debian.org) to report problems.
All of the INTEGER*2 types were changed to INTEGER*4 . I don't
know whether this breaks anything. g77 would not call some functions
with 2 byte integer args.

The environment variables mentioned in the dstool docs, need not
be set when using the debian installation.
