---- ESOUND
Enlightenment requires EsounD (ESD) to be installed to compile.
Please see the EsounD homepage below on how to obtain/install it.
	http://pw1.netcom.com/~ericmit/EsounD.html"

you need all thes compiled and instaleld first - make sure Imlib is compiled
with support for libjpeg libpng libgif and libtiff

*********************

how to compile?

type:
./configure
make

*********************

how to install?

don't install yet - irrespecitve of that the output of configure tells you.

how to run:

*********************

in the source dir:
./enlightenment

now you'll probably want to do this first before running it:

xterm -fn fixed -g -0+0 &
./enlightenment

this means u'll have at least an xterm to launch stuff from.

remeber to run E form the soruce dir.

*********************

now what can you do?

try this:

run a whole bunch of programs - lest say 4 xterms (or as many as can fit
onscreen - maybe more than 4 if u have a big screen). now mess all the
windows up by moving them around... now hit F12
JOY!

also try the new alert box:
hit the F11 key.
you can keep hittin it.. it will bring the same alert box up in different
ways.

now for some fun... go up a desktop by hitting:
alt right-arrow

you can go back a desktop with:
alt left-arrow

the 2 arrows ont he top right (up and down) below the dragbar and its
raise/lower arrow naviigate up and down a desktop too.. :) (up arrow goes up
a desk, down goes back a desk) - they are an example of "sticky buttons" -
buttons not bound to any desktop - floating above. The dragbar and its 2
buttons are internally generated butotns atached to a particular desktop.
This way u can have buttons on all desktop all the time (sticky) and
specific buttons for particular desktops. :) Now for more fun. Try
"dragging" one of the 2 "desktop swticher" buttons (the 2 on the top-right
under the dragbar and its raise/lower buttons) - HEY presto.. after the
mouse exceeds the threshold for dragging (definable threshold and definable
action settings as to what mouse/keyboard combos init a butotn drag) you can
drag your buttons anywhere and leav them there happily. Voila - button
dragging.

you can "slam the currently focused desktop shut" (ie the one the mouse is
over) wiht alt down-arrow. :)

now notice that on the top of the desktop that just slid in after
hitting alt right-arrow there is a big horizontal bar along the top and 2
buttons at the top.

click the bag and drag the new desktop.. notic how it drags.. :)

alt-left will slide yet another desktop on screen.. drag that around too..

The top button will raise that desktop to the top, the butotn below it will
send the desktop all the way to the bottom behind the root desktop. NOTE you
cannot move the root desktop. You also cannot lower it.

On window decorations the "X" butotn kilsl the program, the "v" arrow shoudl
iconify, but currently doesn't becuase you cannot iconfiy yet, and the
"square" butotn below the iconify button will stick/unstick a window. sticky
windows dont reside on any deskotp - they float above all desktops all the
time. Hitting this button again will unstick the window.

Now for more fun.. how do u get a window to move form one desktop to another?
pick it up -drag it along and drop it in the partially exposed (dragged out)
desktop... its that simple. :)
drag it back to another desktop.. do whatever u like :)

If you want to exit alt-End (next to pgup, pgdn keys) will exit E. :)
