 If the <CODE>FC</CODE> keyword is entered, the
 interpolant is calculated using the Fritsch and Carlson method of monotone
 piecewise cubic interpolation. This algorithm produces a visually pleasing
 interpolant, that is, the interpolating curve has no extraneous "bumps" or
 "wiggles".</P>
