Help on 'update' Feta 1.4.0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
APT stores a list of packages available, based on the sources it finds
in /etc/apt/sources.list. Because these sources may change, you will need
to update your available package list periodically. This can be done with
the 'update' command, which will get any local package lists, as well
as download updated versions from any websites you may have listed in
your sources.list file.
Usually, Feta will ask you if you want to update in situations where it
would be helpful (for example, after editing your sources.list file, or
before an upgrade). However, you can also explicitly require an update
using the 'update' command.
After you have updated once, Feta will stop asking you automatically and
assume you do not want to. If you wish to trigger this behavior right
away (that is, if you never want to be asked about updating), run Feta
with the -U parameter.
EXAMPLES
--------
To update your package list:
# feta -u
or:
# feta update
OTHER REFERENCES
----------------
The -U parameter mostly affects the 'upgrade' and 'dist-upgrade' commands.
'update' is done using 'apt-get update'; more information is in
apt-get(8).
