    Works out of the box with various PCL3 drivers.  &lt;br&gt;

    Under Linux this printer does up to 600x600dpi in colour with
    CRET. To obtain this use the Gimp-Print driver (4.1.99) in 600x600
    dpi, or the cdj880 or cdj970 drivers with RET turned on and
    presentation quality.&lt;p&gt;

    The german magazine c&apos;t - Magazin fuer Computertechnik
    (21/2000) recommends for the HP DeskJet 840C:&lt;br&gt;
