This version of FVWM, is a major upgrade from previous versions.
There have been extensive changes. There is no longer a System
provided fvwmrc file. User config must be changed for this version of
FVWM. Please abort if you are not prepared for that, or if you need
time to contact all users of FVWM on this machine.

There are new utilities to help customize FVWM if there is no fvwmrc
file available. Because of this, the package removes the default
system-wide fvwmrc file, since that shadowed the nice configuration
utilities. If there is no ~/.fvwmrc file available, FVWM shall present
a default menu that allows one to generate an initial .fvwm directory.
Please read /usr/share/doc/fvwm/News.Debian.gz for upgrade hints.

I repeat, FVWM 2.5.8 no longer has system wide configuration files.
In the postinst we now move old conffiles out of the way (.dpkg-old),
since they interfere with the new configuration generation
tools. Since the files are just moved, but not deleted, we preserve
user changes. We only do this if the user is upgrading from a pre
2.5.8 version. On purge, we remove all these preserved files as well.

continuing with its upgrade.
