<p>컴퓨터를 <em>대기</em> 상태로 둘 때 잠자기 신호를 보냅니다. 모든 프로그램과 문서는 열린 상태로 두지만, 화면과 다른 부분은 절전을 목적으로 끕니다. 컴퓨터는 여전히 켜저 있으며, 적은 전력을 소모합니다. 키를 누르거나 마우스 단추를 눌러 깨울 수 있습니다. 동작하지 않으면, 전원 단추를 눌러봅니다.</p>
<p>어떤 컴퓨터는 하드웨어 지원 문제가 있는데 <link xref="power-suspendfail">대기 모드에 제대로 진입하지 못합니다</link>. 대기 모드 기능에 의존하기 전에 컴퓨터가 대기 모드로 들어가는지 시험을 진행하시는게 좋습니다.</p>
