<p>Para configurar a maioria das conexões de rede com fio, tudo que precisa fazer é conectar um cabo de rede. O ícone de rede com fio (<media its:translate="no" type="image" src="figures/network-wired-symbolic.svg"><span its:translate="yes">definições</span></media>) é exibido na barra superior com três pontos enquanto a conexão está sendo estabelecida. Os três pontos desaparecem quando estiver conectado.</p>

<p>If this does not happen, you should first of all make sure that your
network cable is plugged in. One end of the cable should be plugged into the
rectangular Ethernet (network) port on your computer, and the other end
should be plugged into a switch, router, network wall socket or similar
(depending on the network setup you have). The Ethernet port is often on the
side of a laptop, or near the top of the back of a desktop computer. Sometimes, a
light beside the Ethernet port will indicate that it is plugged in and active.</p>

<p>Você não pode se conectar a um computador diretamente em outro com um cabo de rede (pelo menos não sem fazer algumas definições adicionais). Para conectar dois computadores, deveria conectar ambos em um hub de rede, roteador ou switch (comutador).</p>

<p>Se ainda não estiver conectado, sua rede pode não oferecer suporte a configuração automática (DHCP). Nesse caso, terá que <link xref="net-manual">configurá-la manualmente</link>.</p>
