INSTALL
=======

To install Greenwich, simply run the following commands:

	$ make
	$ su
	Enter password:
	# make prereq
	# make install

You can omit the 'make prereq' command if you know that Greenwich's
prerequisites are already installed.

By default, Greenwich is installed into the /usr directory, however you can
change this by editing the PREFIX variable in the Makefile file.

PREREQUISITES

Greenwich requires the following Perl modules to be installed:

	Gnome (and therefore Gtk)
	Locale::Maketext

You can automatically install these modules using CPAN by running 'make
prereq' as root in the Greenwich source directory.

OPTIONAL MODULES

If the IP::Authority module is installed, Greenwich will use it to determine
the whois server used to do IP address lookups. If it's not installed, then
Greenwich will send all such requests to whois.iana.org.

To install IP::Authority, use CPAN:

	perl -MCPAN -e 'install IP::Authority'

This module was originally a prerequisite but was removed in order to comply
with the Debian Project's licensing policy.
