Readme for Groovy CD player
------------------------------------

Groovy is based on the WorkBone CD playing routines. An ncurses UI has been
added, with cool fluffy track and time numbers. :)

------------------------------
IMPORTANT EXECUTION NOTES
------------------------------

You must put a CD in the drive BEFORE loading Groovy. If you eject
a CD, Groovy will return to your shell. (this will change in the future).

Upon execution, Groovy calculates the CD ID (as required per CDDB
databases), and attempts to first find the ID in the local cache
(~/.groovycd). If it cannot find the cached item, it will attempt to
contact a cddb database server and retrieve information from the server
about the CD. The only hint you will have at this point that it is
contacting the server, is a couple messages flashing by in the lower left
status bar.

------------------------------
KEY MAPPINGS
------------------------------

     P Play CD
     S Stop CD
     Z Pause CD
R Toggle through play modes (indicated on status bar)
T Toggle through time modes (elapsed, left, cd left)
     E Eject CD
     + Next Track
     - Previous Track
     < Rewind 10 seconds
     > Fast forward 10 seconds
A Switch 7/8 bit big numbers

For all you WorkBone old-timers <snicker>, the program also
works with the basic WorkBone key mappings (the keypad).
Make sure you have numblock turned on if you choose to use
     this method!

-----------------------------
COMMAND LINE SWITCHES
-----------------------------

Possible command-line switches are:

    --help, -h: prints help
--version, -v:	prints program name and version number
--ascii, -a:	displays "big-numbers" using 7bit ascii chars
			(default: 8 bit)
--stdout, -c: displays information about CD to stdout and exits

-----------------------------
COMPATIBILITY NOTES
-----------------------------

This software has been tested on an ATAPI cdrom using the driver from
the 2.1.x kernels, and works fine. It has also been tested on *one*
SCSI cdrom player, and played without incident. I haven't had time or
the ability to test the program for compatiblity on a whole shlew of cd
players. Keep in mind that the main CD code has been modified from
WorkBone, so if your system works with WorkBone, it *should* work with
Groovy.
