.SH DESCRIPTION
This manual page documents briefly the GNUstep
.B Desktop
application. This manual page was written for the Debian distribution
because the original program does not have a manual page.

\fBDesktop\fP is designed to work in conjunction with
\fBGWorkspace\fP, the official GNUstep workspace manager.

\fBDesktop\fP provides functionality to make the root window
inter-operate with GWorkspace. It provides a Dock which allows
applications to be launched as well as a recycle bin. Files and
folders can be placed on the desktop which can then be operated on.
Double-clicking the file opens the file with the default application.
Right-clicking presents a choice of applications that the file can be
opened with. Alternatively, files can be dragged onto the application
icons in the Dock for the application to open the file.
There is a graphical preferences dialogue, which can be invoked from
the menu system: Info --> Preferences.
