\DOC is_infix_type

\TYPE {is_infix_type : (type -> bool)}

\SYNOPSIS
Determines whether a given type is an appropriate infix type.

\DESCRIBE
The most general infix type is {":* -> (** -> ***)"}. The function
{is_infix_type} returns {true} if the given type is an instance of the
most general infix type: it returns {false} otherwise.

\FAILURE
Sometimes fails in a nasty way: e.g.,
{
   #is_infix_type ":(* -> **)";;
   evaluation failed     dest_type
}
\EXAMPLE
{
#is_infix_type ":*->**->***";;
true : bool

#is_infix_type ":bool->num->bool";;
true : bool

#is_infix_type ":(bool->bool)";;
false : bool

#is_infix_type ":bool";;
false : bool
}
