hx for DEBIAN
----------------------

According to bugreport #79227 it was claimed that hx has a licence problem
and therefore was removed from the archives (accidently without notifying
the present maintainer, see bug #81961).
However, I downloaded the newest available source tarball hx-0.7.14.tar.gz
from the upstream author's (Ryan Nielsen) website http://hx.fortyoz.org on
13th Jan 2001. Even though this tarball still includes the problematic
licence statement in the README (refering to the unreleased GPL version 69,
an unspecified entitity asf, and an apparently incorrect date 1991), the
file also says that Ryan Nielsen is the author and that the program is under
GPL. The tarball also includes a file COPYING with GPL version 2. Herewith
the upstream author clearly documented that he validly put his software hx
under GPL version 2. Even if only this file COPYING would have been included
without further notice (i.e. without README), the software would be validly
GPL'ed.
Therefore, the licence issue is definitely considered as settled by me!
This is also important for the package gtkhx which is based on hx.
