UW IMAP 4.5 for DEBIAN
----------------------
Comments regarding the Package
Here are some known issues.
1. Default mailbox location
Is now $HOME/mail in accord with Debian policy. If you don't want this you
can recompile the package to something more to your liking. Here's how. MAKE
SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Neither Debian nor I have any
responsibility if things go wrong.
* download and install the dpkg-dev and pgp or pgp-i packages.
* download the imap orig.tar.gz, diff.tar.gz and .dsc from the Debian FTP
* site in <current distribution>>/main/source/mail.
* Run:
$ dpkg-source -x imap*.dsc
This will create a subdirectory containing the imap sources with Debian
patches applied.
* open src/osdep/unix/env_unix.c in an editor and look for the text between
lines that say /* CHANGE MAILBOX ROOT HERE */ This is where you make the
change.
* cd to the root of the imap subdirectory.
* Run:
$ dpkg-buildpackage -B -m"you@your_email_address"
* You will be asked to sign the package with the key of
you@your_email address.
2. mbox driver
This package has the mbox driver enabled which means that if there is a file in
your home directory called mbox it will be treated as your inbox and all mail
in your system inbox (/var/spool/mail/<your login>) will immediately be
transfered there on access.
