There are currently three directories with sample code for the
required configuration files:
sample0:
this contains the most basic installation for "isdnbutton". It does
not allow for connections to multiple internet providers and does
not offer a lot of flexibility, but if you have no special
requirements then it might just be all you need.
sample1:
this is an elaborate set of script files that has been contributed
by Bjarne Pohlers. This is probably the prefered way of installing
"isdnbutton" if you require more flexibility than "sample0". The
scripts are highly configurable. See the enclosed README file for
further information.
sample2:
this is a copy of the configuration scripts as currently in use by
the author. It does not offer a whole lot of flexibility but is
custom-tailored to my needs. You will notice, that several scripts
call an application named "paperboy". This is a specialized program
that initiates a connection to my ISP via X.75/pppd and
automatically exchanges news and e-mail. There is one peculiarity, I
linked both the "connect" and "disconnect" script to the same
file. This is because I want the left mouse button to terminate all
open connections and all dial-attempts; dial-attempts might be
active even when the traffic light is red, because "paperboy" is an
external dialer that uses the modem emulation of the ISDN subsystem!
Neither of the above configuration examples is useable as-is. You
*must* configure them for your specific needs. At the very least, you
will have to specify phone numbers and IP addresses!
If you have come up with a new and ingenious way of configuring
"isdnbutton", then why not share with the rest of us :-) Drop me a
note and I will include it in the next release. Also, if you want to
contribute code changes or additions to the documentation, then you
are more than welcome to do so.
