The Program and the Files</A>
</H2>
<EM>Kimwitu</EM> is invoked by, for example, the command <I>kc file.k</I>.
It then generates a number of files.
Multiple <I>file.k</I> arguments are permitted.
To avoid superfluous recompilations when using <I>make</I>, <I>kc</I> will not overwrite
a file with an identical file.
See the discussion below (Section <A HREF="node24.html#makefile">3.2</A>) for an example makefile.
The program <I>kc</I> can give some error messages and warnings.
Depending on the user-provided code, <I>cc</I> and <I>lint</I> can give additional error
messages.
In particular, <I>lint</I> will typecheck all expressions involving phyla and
operators.
