4.4 <tt class="module">util</tt> - Miscellaneous Utilities
</H1>
<P>
The <tt class="module">util</tt> module provides a number of utilities handy to a
web application developer.
<P>
The functionality provided by <tt class="module">util</tt> is also available in the
standard Python library <tt class="module">cgi</tt> module, but the
implementation in <tt class="module">cgi</tt> is specific to the CGI environment,
making it not the most efficient one for mod_python. For example, the
code in <tt class="module">util</tt> does not use the environment variables since
most of the information is available directly from the
<tt class="class">Request</tt> object. Some of the functions in the <tt class="module">util</tt>
module are implemented in C for even better performance.
