=head1 NAME
Demeter::Data::XDI - Import XDI objects into Demeter Data objects
=head1 VERSION
This documentation refers to Demeter version 0.9.26.
This is compliant with L<Xray::XDI> 1.0.
=head1 SYNOPSIS
Demeter wrapper around L<Xray::XDI>, also providing fallback
functionality when L<Xray::XDI> is not available.
=head1 METHODS
=over 4
=item C<_import_xdi>
Called when the C<xdifile> attribute is set. Associates an Xray::XDI
object with a Demeter::Data object.
$data = Demeter::Data->new;
$data -> xdifile($file);
=item C<xdi_output_header>
Organize all the various forms of metadata and comments into a
sensible header for an XDI file written by either Ifeffit or Larch and
with or without L<Xray::XDI>.
=item C<xdi_make_clone>
Use this method to clone an Xray::XDI object from one Demeter::Data
object to another, for example when making a copy or performing a data
processing operation that results in a new group.
$data->xdi_make_clone($original, $text, $remove_timestamps);
Here C<$orignal> is the Demeter::Data object (B<not> the Xray::XDI
object) from which the Xray::XDI object will be cloned.
C<$text> is a short bit of text describing the data processing chore.
For a straight copy, set C<$text> to something that evaluates false.
These text strings are accumulated, so keep it short!
If C<$remove_timestamps> is true, then the C<Scan.start_time> and
C<Scan.end_time> items will be removed from the cloned metadata. This
shouldbe true for something like a merge, which results in data that
is distinct from the source data. This should be false fomr something
like a copy or a simple data processing step for which the time stamps
remain relevant to the data.
