    configure.ac: Don't force CFLAGS=-O2
    
    Without specifying CFLAGS, autotools defaults to -g -O2, so this code
    adds a redundant -O2 (-g -O2 -O2). When specifying CFLAGS, this
    overrides the user's choice—e.g. CFLAGS="-O1" leads to the build using
    -O1 -O2.

    .gitlab-ci.yml: disable dependency tracking on Ubuntu
    
    The GitLab CI system was saying:
    
    config.status: error: in `/builds/GNOME/libdmapsharing':
    config.status: error: Something went wrong bootstrapping makefile fragments
        for automatic dependency tracking.  If GNU make was not used, consider
        re-running the configure script with MAKE="gmake" (or whatever is
        necessary).  You can also try re-running configure with the
        '--disable-dependency-tracking' option to at least be able to build
        the package (albeit without support for automatic dependency tracking).
    See `config.log' for more details
    
    This aims to fix that.

    build: Fix vala build with gstapp in non-standard location
    
    Some of the headers include `<gst/app/gstappsink.h>`, which is part of gstreamer-app-1.0,
    the pkg-config file only lists gstreamer-1.0 as a dependency, though. It is not guaranteed
    that they share the installation paths and indeed it is not the case on NixOS, resulting
    in build failure.
    
    Let's properly declare our dependencies so that vala-gen-introspect can find them.

    Adjust how building tests works
    
    Previously, the presence of the check library led to libdmapsharing
    building its unit tests and supporting facilities, despite the separate
    configure flag --disable-tests. This led to confusion as to whether some
    test facilities should be present in the compiled libdmapsharing. Now,
    --disable-tests disables all tests, whether unit tests or sample programs,
    and it ensure not test facilities exist in libdmapsharing.

    Unconditionally include test-*.c in libdmapsharing
    
    These files used to be guarded by HAVE_CHECK. However, test-dmap-client.c
    and test-dmap-server.c require them. Thus we now build them into
    libdmapsharing unconditionally. Perhaps the name should involve
    "reference" rather than "test," and perhaps these could be made a little
    more useful in the general case.

    Adopt single DMAP/Dmap/dmap namespace
    
    Using DmapX rather than DMAPX is consistent with GTK (e.g.,
    GtkButton). Getting rid of the DAAP, DACP, and DPAP namespaces eases
    support for Vala and other languages which prefer one namespace per
    library. Removed a buch of scripting just which was required to generate
    introspection descriptions which previously combined several namespaces.

    dmap-share: Don't throw warnings during normal operations
    
    DACP (_touch-able._tcp) and DAAP (_daap._tcp) on macOS use the same
    default port, 3689, to advertise both services. A single server likely
    implements both protocols, and internally routes the requests.
    
    This is not the case with the libdmapsharing, with each protocol getting
    its own server running on the port (both in IPv4 and IPv6). When an
    application like rhythmbox would launch both possible types of share,
    the first one would go without a hitch, the second one would only be
    accessible via IPv6 on a different port.
    
    This doesn't make much difference as:
    - which port is used is ultimately unimportant as the port is
      advertised in mDNS
    - the port already being used might mean we're sharing music with
      another application on the same machine
    and none of those are programming or configuration errors.
    
    Ideally, services with the same port would share a single SoupServer,
    but until then, this change will not make any difference in terms of
    interoperability.

    Use soup_session_new() instead of deprecated soup_session_new_async()
    
    The SoupSession class now handles async and sync communications. Since
    we already call soup_session_queue_message() (which sends the message
    asynchronously) there are no other changes needed.

    Always set base URI path
    
    A SoupURI is considered invalid if the path is NULL. Set the path of the
    base URI to an empty string, instead.
    
    This fixes a bunch of these warnings:
    
        (rhythmbox:32182): libsoup-WARNING **: (soup-uri.c:248):soup_uri_new_with_base: runtime check failed: (SOUP_URI_IS_VALID (base))

    Start Vala-related clean up
    
    Libdmapsharing seems to have diverged from some expected naming
    conventions and this is affecting the use of libdmapsharing from Vala
    code. Rename DPAPRecordInterface and TYPE_DPAP_RECORD to make Vala
    happy. This work will continue as I attempt to make use of more of
    libdmapsharing from Vala code.

    Significant work on reducing memory usage while building "/1/items" response
    
    We previously simply called foreach...add_entry_to_mlcl and later
    serialized the entire structure. This has the disadvantage that the entire
    response must be in memory before libsoup sends it to the client. Now,
    we transmit portions at a time.

    Fix some bugs related to the recent DmapMdnsPublisher singleton change
    
    There were some mistakes left over from the DmapMdnsPublisher singleton
    change that were identified while working on Rhythmbox. Rhythmbox woud
    crash when a user enabled, disabled and then enabled the DAAP plugin.

    Resynchronize order of DMAPContentCode and DMAPContentCodeDefinition definitions
    
    The definitions of DMAPContentCode and DMAPContentCodeDefinition had
    gotten out of sync. This was causing a crash when serving DPAP because
    libdmapsharing was treating a particular version number content code as

    Allow two DMAP sub-protocols (e.g., DAAP and DPAP) in one process

    Parse metadata on GET /databases/1/containers
    
    While trying to figure out why iTunes 10 does not work with
    libdmapsharing, I noticed that libdmapsharing did not parse metadata
    on a "GET /databases/1/containers" request (the metadata provided by
    the response was hard coded). Because of this, libdmapsharing could
    not identify unsupported metadata. Libdmapsharing now parses metadata
    received from these requests.

    Re-license some files as LGPL
    
    I had accidentally placed GPL headers on some of the source files for
    which I maintain the copyright. I have replaced these with LGPL headers.
    Alexandre Rosenfeld mistakenly (I assume) licensed dacp-player.[ch] as
    GPL. I will have to confirm that it is okay to change these with him.
    Andre Moreira Magalhaes' test-dmap-client and test-dmap-server are also
    GPL. These files are not as much of an issue, but I plan to contact him
    and ask if LGPL is okay so that all source files are consistent.

    Apply Alexandre Rosenfeld's DACP patch from Google Summer of Code 2010
    
    Add DACP support. This allows an application such as Rhythmbox to be
    controlled using a remote control application on an iPhone, iPod Touch,
    iPad or other similar device. The DACP code is not yet complete, but
    progress warrants commiting it to the development tree and focusing
    future work on specific patches.

    This was done to support Alexandre Rosenfeld's Google Summer of Code

    lines of code in DAAPShare and DPAPShare have been reduced by several
    hundred lines. I would expect a similar effect on DACPShare.
