Notes about the libdv Debian package
------------------------------------
People used to the way Debian normally distributes libraries probably
will miss a package libdv1 alongside libdv-dev. That's because libdv
contains optimised assembler routines that will not build as a shared
lib, but as a static lib only. The authors chose this implementation
to maintain the best performance they could get. Do not try to build
shared libs off the sources. They will not be usable. And please do
not file me bugs about missing shared libs either. ;-)
Update: The latest version is supposed to work as a shared lib as well,
but since this option lacks testing, the package remains
static-only for now.
