Phidgets hotplug integration
----------------------------

Simply copy phidgets.hotplug into /etc/hotplug.d/usb and make it executable.
Then add a group 'phidgets' to /etc/group and add all users that are to be
able to access the Phidgets to that group.

Now either log off and on again, or use su to get a new shell to make the
group change take effect. The output of /usr/bin/id must list 'phidgets' as
one of the groups.

Finally, connect the Phidget device(s) you want to use. Now you should be able
to access the Phidget devices from your normal account, as long as that user
is a member of the phidgets group.

Here are the steps for the impatient (Debian):

  su
  install -m755 -oroot -groot phidgets.hotplug /etc/hotplug.d/usb
  addgroup phidgets
  addgroup <user> phidgets
  exit
  su <user>
  <connect device>

Having said that, Debian's libphidgets0 package automates the above. Just
install it, add yourself to the phidgets group (or whatever else you
selected), and off you go!
