.SH "NAME"
xs_close \- close Crossroads socket
.SH "SYNOPSIS"
.sp
\fBint xs_close (void \fR\fB\fI*socket\fR\fR\fB);\fR
.SH "DESCRIPTION"
.sp
The \fIxs_close()\fR function shall destroy the socket referenced by the \fIsocket\fR argument\&. Any outstanding messages physically received from the network but not yet received by the application with \fIxs_recv()\fR shall be discarded\&. The behaviour for discarding messages sent by the application with \fIxs_send()\fR but not yet physically transferred to the network depends on the value of the \fIXS_LINGER\fR socket option for the specified \fIsocket\fR\&.

The default setting of \fIXS_LINGER\fR does not discard unsent messages; this behaviour may cause the application to block when calling \fIxs_term()\fR\&. For details refer to \fBxs_setsockopt\fR(3) and \fBxs_term\fR(3)\&.
