  Linuxconf's features

_L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f itself has some features which control its behavior. While
those features are generally included in task-related dialogs, some
fit nowhere else, so they end up here.

  11.. KKeeyybbooaarrdd mmaapp

You can pick the proper keyboard map for your country. A help list
shows all the available ones on your system. You can also enter the
  path of a custom map.

  22.. LLaanngguuaaggee

Linuxconf is translated into a few languages besides English. The
language field lists the available languages.

  33.. HHTTMMLL ttiimmeeoouutt

When _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f receives an _H_T_T_P request, it will start to process the
request and will stay running for some time. After a period of
inactivity, equal to the timeout, linuxconf will exit. While this has
little impact on its functionality (the HTTP protocol is logically
stateless -- each transaction is conceptually complete), some complex
HTML dialogs exist which require linuxconf to remember information
about pages it has generated. If you are too slow to fill a screen
and accept it, linuxconf may very well quit in the meantime. This has
  two drawbacks:

+o Increased disk activity (not much) to start, stop and restart
     linuxconf.

+o Some complex dialogs may not work because linuxconf loses important
state information when it exits. This situation arises in some
complex sequences of input screens which are not yet part of the
standard distribution of linuxconf (experimental features).

Using this feature you can raise the timeout so linuxconf will wait
longer before exiting. The timeout is expressed in minutes.

  44.. UUssiinngg tthhee GGUUII mmooddee

Linuxconf automatically determines and starts the appropriate user
interface mode. On some under-powered workstations, it is sometimes
nicer to use text mode, which provides better performance. Using this
checkbox, you can disable the use of the GUI mode under X11.

55.. MMaayy uussee ccoolloorrss iinn tteexxtt mmooddee

Some people use monochrome monitors with VGA adapters. There is no way
linuxconf can detect this. The results are unreadable. This checkbox
forces linuxconf into a black and white mode.

  66.. TTrriiggggeerr ffoorr ffiilltteerr

When displaying a long list, linuxconf pops up a filter dialog. It
allows you to enter a search prefix, then only matching items of the
list will be shown. By default, linuxconf switches to this behavior
when the list reaches more than 60 entries. You can control the
cutoff value here. A value of 0 disables this behavior -- you will be
presented with the entire list every time.

  77.. HHTTMMLL bbooddyy ppaarraammeetteerrss

You can control the parameters of the HTML BODY statement. The
parameters you provide will be used for all HTML pages generated by
linuxconf. This may be useful if you manage several _L_i_n_u_x stations
using a browser. By using different settings, you can differentiate
them more easily. Here is an example you may wish to try:
