listar for DEBIAN
----------------------

Listar will not work until you configure it. Please observe some things:

1. There's a config file in /etc/listar. Modify it as appropriate, taking
   special note of domain stuff.

2. Listar per-list info, configs, and defaults, are in /var/lib/listar.

3. /usr/share/doc/listar/examples/lists has a sample config like you'd find in
   /var/listar/lists.

4. Add the information from /usr/share/doc/listar/examples/aliases to your
   /etc/aliases file and run newaliases.

Also, note:

For the purposes of the listar documentation, the home directory for listar
is /usr/lib/listar; this is where listar itself is. The listar data
directory, where all the list configuration files and data files reside, is
/var/lib/listar. /etc/listar contains global (site-wide) listar
configuration information.

Listar logs to /var/log/listar.log with its own devices. It is now rotated
weekly.

There is a spam-regexp file in /usr/share/doc/listar/examples. See the
README.ANTISPAM file for details. If you want to use anti-spam measures,
use this file or something like it and stick it in the appropriate directory
under /var/lib/listar.

You might like to su to listar. This won't work until you set a shell for
that account; use "chsh listar" and set it to something like /bin/sh.

To create a list, su to listar and run:
  /usr/lib/listar/listar -newlist

The listargate CGI script can be found in the package listar-cgi. Please
look there if you want the CGI interface.
