Implementions of this interface allow certain appenders to decide when to perform an appender specific action.
<p>
For example the <a class="el" href="classlog4cxx_1_1net_1_1_s_m_t_p_appender.html">SMTPAppender</a> sends an email when the <a class="el" href="classlog4cxx_1_1spi_1_1_triggering_event_evaluator.html#98ca9017c9a1d9bf4466f8a74b224e01">isTriggeringEvent</a> method returns <code>true</code> and adds the event to an internal buffer when the returned result is <code>false</code>.
