<p>Options used:</p>

<p><tt class="LITERAL">force_fqdn_hostname</tt> FLAG <i
class="EMPHASIS">Update control file with FQDN
name</i></p>

<p><tt class="LITERAL">force_ipaddr_hostname</tt> FLAG <i
class="EMPHASIS">Update control file with IP address of
remote host</i></p>

<p><tt class="LITERAL">use_shorthost</tt> FLAG <i class=
"EMPHASIS">short control and data file names</i></p>

<p>Some <b class="APPLICATION">lpr</b> clients do not put a
FQDN host name in their control file. The <tt class=
"LITERAL">force_fqdn_hostname</tt> flag will cause <b class=
"APPLICATION">lpd</b> to put a FQDN host name in the control
file. This option will assume that the domain is where the
connection originated from.</p>
<p>Similarly, the <tt class=
"LITERAL">force_ipaddr_hostname</tt> flag will cause <b
class="APPLICATION">lpd</b> to put a FQDN host name in the
control file.</p>
<p>Some systems cannot handle FQDN hostnames in control and
data file formats. The <tt class="LITERAL">use_shorthost</tt>
option will send control and data files with very short names
to the remote print server.</p>
