Die Datei
.B /dev/tty
ist ein zeichenorientierte Gertedatei mit der
Hauptnummer 5 und der Nebennummer 0, normalerweise besitzt diese Datei den
Modus 0666 un gehrt root.tty. Dies ist ein Synonym fr das kontrollierende
Terminal eines Prozesses, wenn eines existiert.

.B TIOCNOTTY
Entbindet den aktuellen Proze vom kontrollierenden Terminal und entfernt
von der aktuellen Prozegruppe, ohne es einer neuen Prozegruppe zuzuordnen
(Gruppenproze ID wird auf Null gesetzt). Dieser
.B ioctl()
Aufruf funktioniert nur, wenn die Ausgabedatei verbunden ist mit
.BR /dev/tty ;
dies wird bentigt von Dmon-Prozessen, wenn diese von Benutzern an einem
Terminal gestartet werden. Der Proze versucht
.B /dev/tty
zu ffnen; wenn es gelingt, entbindet er sich selbst vom Terminal mit
.BR TIOCNOTTY ,
denn falls das ffnen fehlschlgt, arbeitet der Proze nicht mit einem
Terminal zusammen und braucht sich selbst so nicht zu entbinden.
