ttytype \- Liste des noms de terminaux et de priphriques.
.SH DESCRIPTION
.B Ttytype
est un fichier de texte ASCII contenant la liste des terminaux, comme dans
termcap, associs aux ttys (sans le prfixe
.IR /dev/ )
auxquels ils sont attachs.
Ceci est utilis par le programme tset pour positionner la variable
d'environnement TERM au nom correct du terminal de l'utilisateur.
Le fichier
.I /etc/ttytype
associe des types de terminaux contenus dans les bases de donnes
termcap/terminfo avec des ports d'entre tty.
Chaque ligne consiste en un type de terminal, suivi d'un espace, puis
d'un nom de priphrique tty (sans le prfixe
.IR /dev/ ")."
Cette association est utilise par le programme
.BR tset (1)
pour remplir correctement la variable TERM avec le type de
terminal par dfaut sur la ligne tty de l'utilisateur.
Cette fonctionnalit tait conue pour un environnement temps partag
classique, avec des terminaux en mode caractre connects physiquement
un mini-ordinateur tournant sous Unix.
Elle est de moins en moins utilise avec l'avnement des stations de
travail modernes, et des Unix sur ordinateurs personnels.
