The GNU

DVI output driver translates the output of
.MR \%troff 1
into \*[tx] DVI format.

Normally,
.I grodvi
is invoked by
.MR groff 1
when the latter is given the
.RB \[lq] \-T\~dvi \[rq]
option.

(In this installation,

is the default output device.)

can interpreted by any correctly written DVI driver.

the DVI format doesn't care about the physical dimensions of the output
medium.

on the first page;

(or another DVI driver)
then sets the page size accordingly.

If either the page width or length is not positive,

use a different resolution
(57,816 units per inch)
from those produced by \*[tx].

Incorrectly written drivers which assume the resolution used by \*[tx],
rather than using the resolution specified in the DVI file,
will not work with

When using the

option with boxed tables,
vertical and horizontal lines can sometimes protrude by one pixel.

This is a consequence of the way \*[tx] requires that the heights
and widths of rules be rounded.
