seleciona a identidade de grupo efetiva do processo atual. Se o solicitante o
superusurio, as IDs real e guardada tambm sero selecionadas.
No Linux,,
.B setgid
implementado como a verso POSIX com a caracterstica _POSIX_SAVED_IDS.
Isto permite um programa setgid (exceto root) para deixar todos os privilgios
de grupo, para fazer alguns trabalhos sem privilgios, e ento reutilizar a ID de grupo
efetiva original de uma maneira segura.
Se o usurio o superusurio ou o programa setgid de superusurio, cuidados especiais devem ser
tomados. A funo
.B setgid
verifica a gid efetiva do solicitante e se ele o superusurio,
todos os processso relacionados tero suas IDs de grupo selecionadas para
.IR gid .
Aps isto ter ocorrido, impossvel para o programa recuperar os previlgios
de root.
Dessa forma, um programa setgid-root desejando temporariamente deixar privilgios
de root, assume a identidade de um grupo diferente de root, e ento recuperando
previlgios de root mais tarde no pode usar
.BR setgid .
